LIGHTNING SEEDS
In 1996, Euro ‘96 was set to be the first major football tournament to be held in England since they had won the World Cup on home soil in 1966. The English Football Association asked Ian if he would write a song for the England team. He had the idea of collaborating with two comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner, the hosts of popular TV show Fantasy Football. They then wrote and recorded the song 3 Lions ’96, which became a number one single on two occasions, selling over a million copies in the UK. Another version of the song, 3 Lions ’98, also topped the chart two years later.
Ian’s Studio is now located in Liverpool on the roof of a warehouse, overlooking the river Mersey, in which he mixed the album “Don’t Forget Who You Are” which he had produced for Miles Kane in 2013. Broudie recently performed a solo concert, which included a collection of his songs and some of his favourite productions, with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Guest vocalists James Skelly, Terry Hall, Ian McCulloch and Miles Kane joined Broudie who was backed by guest musicians Sean Payne, Nick Power, Bill Ryder Jones, Martyn Campbell and Riley Broudie.
He is currently writing and recording the first Lightning Seeds album for many years.
HUE & CRY
Brothers Patrick and Gregory Kane formed Hue and Cry in 1984 and the duo made a huge impact with the release of their debut album ‘Seduced and Abandoned’ (1987) which featured their first top ten single ‘Labour of Love’. The follow up album ‘Remote’ continued the trend and produced the huge hits ‘Looking for Linda’ & ‘Violently’. Albums like ‘Stars Crash Down’, ‘Showtime’ and ‘Jazz Not Jazz’ ensured Hue and Cry’s continued successful run through the 90’s, whilst their 2005 appearances as finalists on ITV’s primetime show ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’, featuring their version of Beyonce’s ‘Crazy In Love’, thrust the band firmly back into the mainstream limelight.
A number of successful album releases and accompanying live appearances followed which included ‘Open Soul’ (2008), 'Xmasday' (2009), 'Bitter Suite Again' (2010), ‘Hot Wire’ (2012), ‘Remote: Major to Minor’ (2014), ‘September Songs’ (2015), ‘Pocketful of Stones’ (2017). To date Hue and Cry have sold more than two million records worldwide.
In 2019, Hue and Cry sold out their ‘Summer Nights at the Bandstand’ show at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove park within hours and finished the year by playing live all over the UK. With the global pandemic bringing live touring to a halt during 2020/21, Hue and Cry introduced their pioneering ‘Live from Lockdown’ streaming shows which were broadcast live from the band’s Glasgow based studio and viewed online by thousands of fans around the world. A collection of their favourite tracks from these shows was released as a ‘Best of Lockdown’ album (2022).
Hue and Cry have sold tens of thousands of concert tickets worldwide. As well as performing alongside some of the greatest artists in music history - appearing with U2, James Brown, Madonna, Al Green and Van Morrison to name but a few, the band have undertaken a multitude of their own headline tours and made numerous festival appearances. The band were recognised by their peers when they were presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Scottish Music Awards.

MANIC STREET PREACHERS
Manic Street Preachers are one of the most influential and iconic rock bands to have come out of Wales. Formed in Blackwood they have gone on to release 14 studio albums and have headlined countless festivals including Glastonbury, T in the Park, V Festival and Reading & Leeds. They have won eleven NME Awards, eight Q Awards and four BRIT Awards and were also nominated for the Mercury Prize and the MTV Europe Music Awards.
Their first album ‘Generation Terrorists’ released in February 1992 was a hugely ambitious debut, establishing them as unique artists, combining classic rock riffs with the attitude of pop and punk and lyrically setting themselves head and shoulders above their contemporaries. Throughout the years they have collected fans from all over the world, maturing and changing musically whilst always keeping the classic Manics sound. At their live shows early tracks such as ‘You Love Us’ and ‘Motorcycle Emptiness’ comfortably sit alongside huge chart hits such as the No. 1 single ‘If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next’ and other tracks such as ‘You Stole The Sun From My Heart’ and ‘Design For Life’ alongside newer songs such as ‘Orwellian’ and ‘The Secret He Had Missed', both taken from their most recent album 'The Ultra Vivid Lament' which reached No. 1 in the UK Album Charts in September 2021.
PUBLIC SERVICE BROADCASTING
Public Service Broadcasting have been “teaching the lessons of the past through the music of the future” for more than a decade now. 2013’s debut album Inform - Educate - Entertain used archival samples from the British Film Institute as audio-portals to the Battle Of Britain, the summit of Everest and beyond. Two years later, The Race For Space used similar methods to laud the superpowers’ rivalry and heroism in orbit and on the Moon. An indie DIY phenomenon the album has remarkably since achieved gold disc status having sold over 100,000 copies in the UK alone. In 2017, joined by voices including Manic Street Preachers’ James Dean Bradfield, Every Valley was a moving exploration of community and memory via the rise and fall of the British coal industry.
Their most ambitious undertaking yet, their last studio album Bright Magic brought the listener to Europe’s heart and de facto capital, the cultural and political metropolis that is the ‘Hauptstadt’ of the Federal Republic of Germany – Berlin. Released in late 2021, and debuting at No 2 in the UK album chart, the band’s fourth album was described by Electronic Sound as “their most ambitious, leftfield and majestic work to date, their glorious creative peak, their magnum opus”, DIY said “it flourished at its most calm and erupted at its most fervent” and Clash said it “cemented PSB's reputation as a vital act right at the top of their game”. The album also featured multiple BBC Radio 6 Music A-Listed singles, including “People, Let’s Dance” [ft. EERA] and “Blue Heaven” [ft. Andreya Casablanca].
Most recently with a celebration of the power of radio written in recognition of the centenary of the BBC, This New Noise saw the band joining forces with the 88-piece BBC Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jules Buckley. A standout performance at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the 2022 edition of the BBC Proms it received 5*s in The Telegraph who called it “a resonant, timely and ultimately touching show”. Founder member J. Willgoose, Esq. remixed the concert from scratch, bringing out even more depth and texture from a multi-layered performance and showing it in a new light and This New Noise was released as an album in Sept 2023.
It is the second time Public Service Broadcasting have been commissioned for the BBC Proms. In 2019 the band performed an orchestral arrangement of their 2015 studio album The Race for Space with The Multi-Story Orchestra to mark the 50th anniversary of the first manned mission to the moon.
